Gadgets are basically extra features that you can add to your Blogger website to make it more interesting or to make it easier for people to follow you. In theory, you don’t need any gadgets. A blog is basically based on the continuous posts which the readers are most interested in. However, these gadgets are designed to enhance your readers’ user experience on your blog and what could be a better way than to take advantage of these free tools to make your web log more engaging and more inviting.

 

A blog post is clearly basic material while the gadgets can enhance your blog and adds more volume to the website. These gadgets could be an advantage or disadvantage depending on how you use them. It all depends on what gadgets you are going to use and how you are going to arrange these extra features.

 

 

Blogger does make these gadgets very easy to use and rearrange according to your liking. However, it is important to keep in mind that most gadgets are designed to fit in the sidebar while some are just designed to be fit on the footer or on the header or depending on how they are laid out. Sometimes you won’t be able to put a gadget on the header because it is not designed to be placed on a wide area.  On your Blogger account, go to the Layout page and you’ll see the structure of the website. From the layout you’ll see several items on the sidebar, header or at the footer where it says ‘Add a Gadget’.

 

 

After you click on the link you’ll see a list of Basic gadgets which are designed by Blogger. You might find that these gadgets are boring but in reality these are very useful and will most likely work well with your blog. Some of the most useful ones are the search bar, the about me and the most popular posts. A search bar makes it easier for people to search for any information that they would like to locate on your blog. The about me gadget is very useful to give your readers a snippet or a summary of who you are. It basically gets the information that you filled up on your Blogger profile and links to it so they will get to know more information about you. The most popular posts will show your viewers which blog entries are getting good reads and it could actually capture their interest.

 

 

On the other hand, if you click on Featured you’ll find gadgets that are designed by third parties. Some of these gadgets are really good and if these are featured by Blogger, they will probably work well with your blog. If the list doesn’t satisfy you, you can go online to find other gadgets and you’ll certainly have a number of choices. However it is best to test these first out before incorporating it to your blog to see it if works well and adds more appeal.
